Obesity Society introduces you to surgery for severe obesity and the specialist society that has been formed to inspire research, education and communication into this surgical specialty. This society was established in 1986. Obesity Surgery is not approximately cosmetic surgery or liposuction but is almost relevant to major surgery performed only when all other methods of weight loss have failed in those people whose health is threatened by their obesity. It promotes action through collaboration in advocacy, communication, education and research. It represents one of the European obesity communities, the fellow scientists, health care practitioners, physicians, public health experts and patients. Main objectives and goals of the Society is the development of unified evidence-based approach to tackling obesity across disciplines and countries. It provides a global platform for sharing ideas and developing solutions in the Austrian region. It delivers education through its Task Forces – which organise educational activities throughout the region and develop scientific guidelines on a number of important topics

American Obesity Societies: USA is vast in research and development arena. There are many societies performing research in wider scope of the relevant field, out of which almost 80 USA Obesity Societies and associations are present. These societies and association are located in Argentina, Illinois, Washington, California and Florida.

European Obesity Societies: More than 45 Obesity Societies in Europe are contributing towards Obesity research activities through their annual congress, journal and newsletters. Majority of these European Obesity Societies and Associations are located in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden, United Kingdom.

Asia-Pacific Obesity Societies: Almost 23 Asian Obesity Societies working on human, animal as well as plant pathology. These associations are situated mostly in Japan, Singapore, China and India. These societies were established in different time periods by eminent Orthopaedists and scientists performing the research in this field.

Middle East Obesity Societies: In Middle East almost 14 Obesity Associations are present. These societies organize annual and biannual Obesity Annual Conferences in Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland.
